Why upskilling workshops?

Academic coursework at FIU provides students with a strong foundation in computing; however, internship readiness also requires practical experience with industry tools, frameworks, and implementation technologies that may not be covered in academic courses. Because technology evolves rapidly, students also need opportunities to build skills in emerging technologies and strengthen the professional competencies expected in the workplace. Targeted upskilling workshops can help bridge this gap, better preparing students to contribute effectively and confidently in internship settings. To make this learning experience relatable, we use a robust instructional framework that includes a peer-facilitated approach, allowing students to build in-demand industry skills.

Our Workshop FRamework

The Sprinternship™ workshops are a seven-week, employer-aligned learning experience designed to prepare students to contribute effectively from the start of their internships. The workshops combine applied technical development with professional readiness, giving Sprinterns hands-on experience with the technologies, workflows, and workplace practices they are likely to encounter on employer projects. Peer facilitators bring recent academic and industry experience into the classroom, creating a practical learning environment that connects technical concepts to real-world applications.

Workshop content is aligned with the skills required for employer challenge projects and informed by students’ existing capabilities, allowing instruction to focus on the areas that will have the greatest impact on internship readiness. Across the seven weeks, Sprinterns strengthen technical proficiency while also developing the communication, collaboration, adaptability, and professional confidence needed to succeed in the workplace.

AI GUIDED TUTOR – OUR PARTNERSHIP WITH EULERIS

In addition to peer-led workshops, students have access to Euleris, an AI-powered tutor that extends learning and support beyond scheduled sessions. While workshops build technical knowledge, familiarity with industry tools, and readiness for challenge projects, Euleris complements that experience by helping students strengthen the professional competencies essential for internships and the workplace.

Through guided, personalized learning experiences, students can practice skills such as technical communication, interview preparation, presentation delivery, and professional confidence at their own pace. Euleris gives learners an additional space to reinforce concepts, continue practicing outside the classroom, and prepare for real-world professional opportunities. By combining structured, peer-led instruction with personalized AI-powered support, Euleris helps create a more comprehensive pathway from academic learning to internship and workplace readiness.
